The Yaqeen Curriculum Editor works with the Curriculum team to develop learning objectives for curriculum units and reviews lesson plans to ensure alignment between learning objectives, assessments, and educational standards. The role also involves coaching Lesson Plan Developers to improve content quality, structure, and pedagogical effectiveness of lesson plans. The successful applicant will be conversant in best practices in curriculum and education design (e.g., Understanding by Design or UbD), an expert coach and communicator, and strong in writing and facilitation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Director of Curriculum to create effective learning objectives for curriculum units.
  • Coach lesson plan developers in curriculum design theories and best practices to improve content quality, structure, and pedagogical effectiveness.
  • Review and refine curriculum materials for pedagogical effectiveness, alignment with learning objectives, and best practices in curriculum design (e.g., understanding by design framework).
  • Other tasks as required.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in curriculum design and pedagogical techniques.
  • 5+ years of teaching experience.
  • Strong writing, grammar, and editing skills; familiarity with educational standards.
  • Detail orientation and ability to ensure accuracy and consistency in materials.
  • Experience working with educators and subject matter experts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and time management skills.
