Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research serves as a platform for scholarly discourse that seeks to elevate the voices of many talented scholars and academics within the Muslim community. We aim to inspire Muslims to see the value of their religion and spur Islamically-rooted contribution within the broader society.
Every paper must advance one of three goals
Every paper submitted to Yaqeen must fulfill one or more of the following research goals.
What Islam isn’t
Dismantling doubts
Addressing claims made against Islam, contextualizing texts or issues that have been problematized, and offering frameworks to refute common misconceptions.
What Islam is
Nurturing conviction
Offering content on how to anchor and strengthen belief, spiritually and intellectually. This includes reintroducing Allah and His Messenger (s), instilling strong faith in divine texts, and offering guidance to root faith in hearts and practice.
What Islam does
Inspiring contribution
Telling the story of Islam, past and present. Reclaiming a legacy of contribution and contextualizing where Muslims fell short of Islamic ideals. This includes work on Islamic ethics and on what Islam uniquely offers the world today.

How to submit
To have a paper considered for publication, we invite interested authors to first submit a brief proposal for feedback from our editorial team. All submissions must be original work and should not have been published elsewhere previously nor be under consideration by another publication.

Every paper passes through several sets of eyes, each focused on a different dimension of quality and alignment.
The five stages of review
You can expect approximately 3 rounds of content-level feedback and 3 rounds of editing. While we consolidate feedback as much as possible, major revisions sometimes uncover new issues that require further review.
Why the process is rigorous
We understand that our editorial process can feel demanding. It involves multiple layers of review and feedback, often over several rounds. That’s because we’re trying to do something most research organizations do not do: combine academic integrity, Islamic orthodoxy, and literary excellence in a way that reaches the masses.
